Our Mission, Vision, & Beliefs

Vision:

Believe in one, affect many, welcome all.

Mission Statement:

To worship God and follow Christ’s call to discipleship as we give of ourselves to the community and those in need worldwide.

Beliefs:

We believe God inspired the authors of Scripture by His Spirit to speak to all generations of believers, including us today. God calls us to immerse ourselves in Scripture as a community and individually to faithfully interpret and live out that story today as we are led by the Spirit of God.

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, God incarnate. He came to preach good news to the poor, proclaiming a new arrival of the kingdom of God. His suffering, crucifixion, death, and resurrection has brought hope to all creation. Through Jesus we have been forgiven and brought into right relationship with God. God is now reconciling us to each other, ourselves, and creation.

We believe that, as a community and individuals, God is calling us to participate in His unfolding story of love, rescue, resurrection, and restoration. The call to discipleship is one in which we join together with God in this unfolding story of redemption for the sake of our neighbor and the world.

We believe that the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, of which Holy Cross is a part, is a faithful community of witnesses to the Gospel. We affirm and uphold all of the doctrines, beliefs, and practices of this larger church body.
